Training

Clarus Medical strongly recommends that physicians and surgeons using Clarus products participate in appropriate training. Clarus facilitates training for its various products in a number of ways. Clarus supports and participates in numerous training events (often involving CME's) throughout each year. These events are often hosted by medical societies, government agencies, or by companies that provide surgical or pain management training. See the events section of the Clarus web site or contact us for details.
In addition, Clarus facilitates training for LASE at a once monthly preceptorship which is normally held near Orlando, Florida.
It is also possible that training can be obtained in your state or in a state near you.
As of February 2003, Clarus recommends that surgeons wishing to be trained in use of the Cervical SpineScope 2180 receive that training from Dr. Merrill Reuter of Lake Worth, Florida. He can be located through Clarus or via his website at www.spineupdate.com.

LASE Monthly Preceptorship

What

The LASE Preceptorship program enables physicians to learn how to perform the LASE procedure, and to become credentialed in Endoscopic Discectomy as performed using Clarus' LASE kit.

You will be trained in two areas and will receive a certificate for each:

  1. LASE - clinical issues. This section, taught by a physician experienced with LASE, permits you to watch one or more LASE procedures, and to interact with the physician/instructor. Topics covered include patient selection, needle placement, how to perform the procedure, complications, and post-procedure care. You will receive a certificate signed by the physician/instructor.
  2. Laser physics, safety, and tissue interaction. This section should qualify you to become "laser certified" at your facility.

Why

Clarus recommends that all physicians contemplating performing LASE learn how to do so from an experienced user. This training should increase your skills and confidence. The certificates you receive should also make it easier to become credentialed at your facility.

Who

Faculty includes orthopedic and neurological surgeons, and pain management specialists.

When

Courses are held each month. Most courses start in the evening, and end at approximately noon the next day.

How

To obtain a schedule, call your regional sales representative or Clarus Customer Service. After you register, you will receive a packet of training material by mail.

You will be responsible for making your travel arrangements and for the associated costs. Your sales representative will inform you where your hotel reservations should be made, and may be able to assist you in making them. Be sure to keep in mind that procedure schedules can change at the last minute, so be careful about buying non-refundable tickets. Clarus attempts to give adequate notice if a preceptorship date is changed, but can make no assurance that your schedule will not be affected.
