Epiduroscopy

Epiduroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure of the lumbar spine that is performed using a steerable catheter that incorporates endoscopy and a working channel. Patient indications are epidural inflammation, adhesions, or other tissue obstructions that are directly or indirectly causing back or leg pain. Typical patients may be suffering from or exhibit the symptoms of failed back surgery syndrome.

Clarus markets the two most popular types of epiduroscopes:

Myelotec® Video Guided Catheter (VGC) is a single use catheter with two channels and excellent bi-directional steering. The VGC is used in conjunction with a reusable fiber endoscope, which then occupies one of the two working channels. This combination provides superior steering and lowest per-procedure cost. The VGC is available in two diameters, 2.7mm and 3.0mm.

Epidural SpineScope 2160 was developed by Clarus Medical, LLC to complement the VGC. Compared to the VGC the SpineScope has an overall stiffer body with a relatively blunt distal tip. It has single direction deflection, but excellent torque transmission allowing the physician to achieve effective steering. The SpineScope has excellent optics, a 1mm working channel, and is totally disposable for greatest ease of use.
